Calling all budding photographers! Join one of the fun family sessions listed above, create your own working pin-hole camera, and get snapping. The workshop also includes a chance to view the museum’s Rothschild photographic exhibition, the colours of Another Age.
(Please note: Developing the photographs takes some time so we will either send your photograph to you in the post or you can arrange to collect it from the museum.)
Ages: the workshop is designed to be an activity for the whole family (adults included). However, the precision necessary to complete the activity means that it is not recommended for children under 8.

Hogarth's House Re-opens - Chiswick Library

Hogarth's House Re-opens

Hogarth’s House in Chiswick, built around 1700, was the country home of the great painter,
engraver and satirist William Hogarth (1697 - 1764) from 1749 until his death. It provided a quiet summer retreat from the bustle of city life around Hogarth’s main house and studio in what is now Leicester square. The House closed to visitors in September 2008 for repairs and refurbishment work which will be completed in time for the House to open to the public this November.
Find out more about the work done to refurbish the House and the new stories of Hogarth and those who lived in the House before and after him that will be on display.

She saved many lives, whilst risking her own… and guess what? She did it alone. Play your part in the wonderful music hall benefit for Mary Seacole – the eminent lady doctor who travelled all the way from Jamaica to risk her life caring for the wounded soldiers of the Crimean War. Join our Victorian music hall artist in songs and sketches, and help her to tell Mary’s extraordinary story. Workshop performed by members of Gunnersbury Park Museum’s education team.
Please note: children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Chiswick House and Gardens Trust

Chiswick House & Gardens are a wonderful place to visit whatever the season. These beautiful pleasure grounds are free to enter and have benefited from a £12.1 million restoration project, completed in 2010.
Why not take a gentle stroll along the lake to see the wildlife and admire the fabulous garden buildings and statues. A toddler’s playground is conveniently close to the café serving delicious food.

The highlight of this autumn will be the party with Fancy dress competition, games, candlelit pumpkins, bong fires and bats – fun for all the family.

Join our Victorian servants as they prepare for the Christmas festivities! Traditionally, Christmas preparations would begin on the last Sunday before Advent, known as Stir–Up Sunday. Our original Victorian kitchens will be decked with holly and ivy to put you in the Christmas spirit, and you can help the servants pound the sugar and spices, stir the plum pudding and make a Christmas wish! You might also discover a few Christmas traditions… Why do we stir the pudding from East to West? Why do we put three spices into the mince pies? And who are the Lord and Lady of Misrule ?
