| Hounslow Heath is a large area of open heathland and scrub woodland of ecological value and was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1991. A wide variety of habitats include heathland, meadow, scrub, woodland and wetland. Consequently a wide range of flora and fauna can be found on this site. Over 132 bird species have been identified, and several rare insects and plants have also been recorded. The site has has been linked with Dick Turpin and other infamous highwaymen and highwaywomen. |
