Why can the speed of the internet be slower at some times of the day?
Internet bandwidth is a finite, shared resource amongst all the public PCs so it will inevitably suffer occasionally from slowdowns during peak periods when there is heavy usage by many users.
Why can I only use the People’s Network computers for a maximum of two hours per day?
The People’s Network is the free computer and internet service offered across all of Hounslow’s Libraries. We need to ensure the maximum availability of the service to as many of our members as we possibly can; we therefore limit the free access to all customers for a maximum of two hours per day, especially at our larger branches in Hounslow, Chiswick, Feltham and Heston.
At our smaller branch libraries we may be able to offer a limited amount of extra time; dependent on existing reservations and the number of people using the library. Please ask a member of staff who will be able to advise you.
