You’re never too young to join the library and it’s free!

If you aren’t already a member, call into the library and ask for a membership form. Ask your parent or carer to sign the form, bring the completed form along to your library and you will be given your library card.

All Hounslow Libraries have a separate area for children aged up to about 14 years where you can find all sorts of books, story tapes and videos.

There are :

  • Books for babies
  • Lots of stories to thrill you, scare you or make you laugh
  • Information books
  • Books to help parents and carers
  • …and lots more

    Girls Reading

You can borrow up to 6 books or story tapes if you are under 12 and if you are aged 12 – 14 you can borrow up to 10 books which you can keep for 4 weeks.

Remember to bring them back on or before the date stamped in the book or you will have to pay overdue charges. You can have the same books out again if nobody else wants them.

In addition, if you are aged 12 – 14, you can borrow up to 10 CDs for two weeks and 5 entertainment videos of the right rating for one week.

Books are free, but there is a charge to borrow CDs and videos.

Computers
All our libraries have computers which children can use, either in the main library or in the children’s area. You will need to ask your parent or carer to sign a form before you can use the computers. Ask a member of staff how to use this service.

Events and Activities
CraftsActivities take place throughout the year. Each library has a storytime for Under 5s every week. Other activities usually happen in the school holidays or at weekends – look out for posters and check the web site for special events.

In the summer holidays, you can join in the Summer Reading Game which will keep you busy all summer and you can win prizes too!
