The History of Middlesex Industrial School 2

After a fortnight in quarantine at The Lodge, the boys were taken into The Industrial School. Here are the imposing Terrace Buildings which housed the Governors Office and the schools administration.

In the School's grounds stood a fully rigged ship complete with masts and sails.

Boys from eleven to fifteen years of age were trained for a life at sea, Ropes were climbed barefoot. Safety nets shrouded the decks.

The school had its own swimming pool, where the boys were taught to swim by the school's Ship-Master.
