Official reopening of Osterley Library

Osterley has reopened to the public following its full refurbishment.

The new-look library has been massively improved to make better use of its space and provide a more comfortable and efficient building. The complete makeover has seen a new improved layout for the library, designed to offer much more flexible use of the space and to expand the use of the building for the local community. It includes new books, new computers with internet access, free wi-fi, a new space for young people, new furniture and the reinstatement of toilets for customers.

The refurbishment of the library forms part of a 4.5million investment in to the borough library portfolio and is the first of four new library schemes to be delivered this year.

The newly transformed library will welcome its first special guest at the launch, acclaimed journalist and fictional author of titles such as Assassin, The Accident Man and the Survivor Tom Cain. Tom will be sharing his views on the importance of libraries as well as talking about his own work and answering questions from the audience. Visitors to the library will be some of the first in the country to find out about Tom’s new novel, “Dictator”, to be released in August as he will also be book signing copies on the day.
