Boston Manor House has now Re-Opened

Southfield Parent & Staff Association Sunflower Fete

Shakespeare in Kabul

Stephen Landrigan & Qais Akbar Omar speak about their book, Shakespeare in Kabul and their experience of staging Shakespeare in Afghanistan.

Shakespeare in Kabul is a memoir which tells the story of staging Love's Labour's Lost in Kabul in 2005 and 2006, by an Afghan troupe of actors. The book was co-authored by Stephen Landrigan, an American playwright, and Qais Akbar Omar, an Afghan writer and journalist. Stephen was responsible for creating the adapted screenplay of Love's Labour's Lost and its translation into Dari. Qais was the Assistant Director.

Stamford Brook Diamond Jubilee Fete

In 1897 the Stamford Brook residents commemorated Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, with Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee over the June weekend the Stamford Brook residents have recreated the wonderful celebration at the same place. Food stalls, performances by local church choirs, scout groups as well as a parade ceremony will bring the local residents together in honour of Her Majesty the Queen.

Lighting the Beacon

Where: Lampton Park
When: Monday 4th June 2012
            9.30pm

2012 beacons will be lit by communities and individuals throughout the UK, as well as the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the Commonwealth. Her Majesty the Queen will light the final beacon at approximately 10. 30pm in Central London, broadcast on live television.

Family Half Term Activity - Shields & Coronets

A Family Activity for children of all ages

Celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee by designing your own royal shield or coronet using embroidery, sequins and jewels. Workshop led by members of the Isleworth and District Embroiderers’ Guild and coincides with the Jubilee exhibition at Gunnersbury Park Museum.

Big Dance Bus

The Big Dance Bus is set to get everyone dancing this summer. As it weaves across London, it will be stopping for one day at Hanworth Air Park Leisure Centre & Library, Hounslow. The quirky double-decker route-master is the ultimate pop up ballroom, complete with its own dance-floor, pumping sound system, compere and DJ.  Come and experience spectacular performances by professional dancers and local dance groups. Isleworth Royal Connections Talk

Prince Richard, money lender brother of King Henry III built a palatial mansion in Isleworth. King Henry VIII’s body was accompanied through the area by a procession several miles long. The house, in which one of King William IV’s illegitimate daughters lived, still stands.

Tudor & Stuart Royal Visits to the Hounslow Area

An illustrated talk by Andrea Cameron, a local historian for the Borough of Hounslow for 50
years. The talk covers the Manor of Hanworth, which came into royal ownership with King Henry VII, who used the Manor as a Hunting Lodge. Queen Elizabeth I came to stay with Sir Thomas Gresham at his newly built Osterley Park House, whilst Syon House had royal visits from King Edward VI through to Queen Anne, the last Stuart Monarch.

Royal Opera House On A Barge

The Bandstand Marathon

Are you a budding and enthusiastic writer? Come and join Feltham Library’s Creative Writing Group, ‘ReWrite’ to meet other writers and showcase your work. It will help you to identify your strengths and interests as a writer by giving you the opportunity to write in a range of genres: fiction, poetry, biography and autobiography.

What with Harry Potter now inished, we could use a new J.K Rowling.

Hobbycraft Groups  (Term Time Only)

Interested in learning a craft? Want to meet other like minded people? Feel like a chat and natter while you knit, crochet or sew? Join one of our hobbycraft groups, work together and share tips from each other. All the groups are run by volunteers.

Try a variety of crafts, sewing, knitting, card craft etc.

In partnership with Diabetes UK and other volunteers. Learn the basics of knitting.

phrase as you can easily improve your English speaking at these regular sessions. So when
you’re in the street, on the phone or at work you can speak with confidence. Intended for anyone whose first language is not English. Practice your speaking skills in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
