For as long as anyone can remember the Stables in Redlees Park, Isleworth had been home for mowing machines, football posts and colonies of wood boring beetles.
In June 1988, supported by the National Lottery through the Arts and Sports Councils of England, Redlees Studios was awarded over £380,000, enabling the completion of the Studios, creating further work spaces, a Technology Suite, build a public reception area and improve facilities throughout. We now offer space for up to 35 fine and applied artists throughout the building. At a time when creative industries and participation in them are coming to the fore, Redlees Studios is well placed to take an active role in developing arts activities and creative abilities. Our aim is to make the name of Redlees Studios synonymous with quality or work and delivery, both locally and nationally.
As the local Council provision for artists, managed by CIP, Redlees is the cultural flagship of the borough. the whole building is geared towards self-sufficiency, using the skills of the residents to run community workshops, arts and craft classes and support a varied programme of exciting new opportunities for local people. As this provision increases, as in the establishment of artists at Isleworth Public Halls, we will be looking to utilise other building within the borough for artists to practise wider varieties of fine and applied arts. |
